DETROIT SHOREWAY

 

Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization (DSCDO), established in 1973, is one of the Gordon Square Arts District’s three founding partners. DSCDO’s service area extends from West 45th Street to West 85th Street and from Lake Erie to Interstate 90, and its mission is to guide the physical, economic and social development of the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood toward an improved quality of life. The Detroit Shoreway neighborhood – located two miles west of downtown Cleveland – offers lakefront access, outstanding transit connectivity, historic housing stock, and new housing development. In addition to the Gordon Square Arts District, Detroit Shoreway is home to the Cleveland EcoVillage, the Lorain Avenue Antiques District, and the Franklin-West Clinton Historic District, with many other areas to walk and explore.

DSCDO’s staff serve residents, businesses and institutional partners through economic development, single and multi-family housing development, code enforcement, marketing and event support, community involvement programs, and safety initiatives. DSCDO’s Real Estate Development team offers unique expertise in multi-family tax credit projects. Working as developer, DSCDO has preserved 14 historic buildings and created nearly 300 units of affordable housing, many of which are located in the heart of Gordon Square. The organization’s most recent project, the Templin-Bradley Company Lofts at 5700 Detroit Avenue, opened in 2015.
